Oro Abosan Festival Holds In Igbogbo Kingdom Wednesday

Come Wednesday, July 1st, 2026, the first of the two annual Oro festivals – Oro Abosan, will hold in Igbogbo Kingdom, and female folks are expected to stay indoors for the duration of the festival.

Female folks are restricted from coming into Igbogbo, from 12midnight till around 7:00am on Thursday.

As the part of the tradition, the town is expected to be alive socially on the eve of the festival, which is Tuesday, as both male and female residents will gather at the Club 24/Abosan junction to merry and celebrate the important festival that has lasted ages, while others will gather at the frontage of their homes and other places to observe the celebration.

The merriment ends around 11pm, when women and girls are expected to retire into their various homes till Thursday morning.

Female visitors coming into Igbogbo during the period are expected to come into the town before 12midnight on Tuesday and remain indoor as well.

For road users from Ijede, Imota and other neighbouring towns that usually ply Igbe Laara/Oreyo/Bola Ahmed. Igbogbo/Ebute Road or Igbe Road, the are advised to make use of Gintin/Itamaga/Ikorodu Road, while those at Bayeku, Offin and Oreta are expected to use Lajo/Olu-Odo/Solebo or Lajo/Abuja/Ibeshe/Ebute Road, during the Oro festival.
